Shannon wins Best Junior at the Omaha, NE show in July 2009 out of an entry of 44 juniors!!  She was only able to show one day that weekend due to a breed conflict.

Shannon wins Best Junior at the Borzoi Club of America National Specialty in May 2009!!

I've been really bad about updating Shannon's junior page, but she's done well and had a fantastic year.

January 2008 - Shannon and Tamar win a very tough open senior class and then went on to win Best Junior!

Shannon helped a friend show her male Great Pyrenees, and went breed with him over specials from the classes!!

Shannon wins Best Junior with Bogus at the Newfoundland Regional Specialty in October 2007!!

Shannon has had a very good year in junior showmanship!!  She finished the year as the #1 Borzoi Club Of America Junior Handler.  In addition to this wonderful accomplishment, she also finished the year as the #5 Newfoundland Junior and #5 French Bulldog Junior - not bad having three breeds and qualifiying in the top five with all of them!!  Way to go Shannon!!!

Shannon and Buzz winning Best Junior at the NCA Regional Specialty!!

With limited showing this year, Shannon qualified for Eukanuba.  Although she won't be able to go to California to compete, she's thrilled she was invited!!

Another win for Shannon at the Milwaukee shows showing her Borzoi Tamar.  Shannon also went on to win Best Junior!!

Shannon with Tamar winning Best Junior at the Milwaukee, WI shows!!

Another open win for Shannon at the Seward show!  This time she was showing her Borzoi, Scotty!  She is only 2 wins away from her 2006 Eukanuba qualification - not bad for only going to 3 1/2 shows so far this year!

Another win for Shannon and Bristol in Wichita.  She defeated 18 others in her class for this win, during a Regional Top Junior Competition weekend, by judge Mrs. Irene (Edd) Bivin.

Shannon picked up another Open Intermediate win with Bristol at the Council Bluff, Iowa show!!

Shannon won back to back Best Junior wins at the Kansas City, KS  shows, showing Bristol,  and has almost completed the wins she needs to qualify for Westminster this year!!

Shannon wins another Best Junior with Bristol at the Kansas City Shows!!

Shannon competes in the Open Intermediate division of Junior Showmanship, and her class sizes usually range anywhere between 10 to 30 competitors  - usually averaging around 20 entrants.

Shannon is pictured here with Punky - CH Justa Too Tough To Resist when she finished him at the Des Moines, Iowa show this fall.

Shannon just picked up her last win she needed to qualify to compete at the Eukanuba Tournament in Tampa, Florida this year.  Her qualifying wins included four different breeds of dogs - the French Bulldog, Borzoi, Newfoundland and Shiba Inu.  She has learned to adapt and be able to show type for each breed she takes in the ring!!

Shannon showed in juniors at the Denver Colorado shows and won her class out of 25 juniors on Saturday, then took a third place out of 27 juniors on Sunday.  During both wins she was showing Bristol the Newfoundland.  There was also a Newfoundland specialty that weekend, and Shannon showed Bristol and won her American Bred class at the specialty, and then also won their class 3 of the 4 days during the all breed shows.  Shannon also took in the Winners Bitch at the specialty "Stevie" and showed her to a Best of Winners over the Winners Dog!!!

Although the Shiba's are all owned by a friend of ours, Shannon loves to show them.  She is pictured here taking Winners Dog with Brewster, from the 6-9 month puppy class, in very tough competition in Denver.  He finished his championship very quickly from the 6-9 month Puppy class taking breed over specials a few times along the way.  Shannon also finished his mother, Dove, and just put the last major on Punky (whom Dove was just bred to) - finishing him  (she co-owns Punky and shows him in juniors).

Shannon's Denver Open Intermediate Junior Showmanship win with Bristol!

Shannon is pictured here winning a Group 4 with Rudy under Judge Jon Cole.  This was her very first time showing him!

Shannon won Best Junior at the St. Cloud Newfoundland Specialty the beginning of December!  Picture to come soon!

Shannon won Best Junior at the HANC Newfoundland Specialty with Jewel in Council Bluffs, Iowa then went on to win Reserve Winners Bitch with Bristol.

Shannon takes a Best Junior out ot 47 children in Minnesota!!

November 13, 2004, Shannon placed 2nd in Open Juniors with Tamar and followed up the next day with an Open Junior win!!  She already has 3 of the 5 first placements needed for next years Eukanuba Tournament!!

Another win for Shannon in a large class of 16 Open Juniors, this time showing her Grandparents French Bulldog.  Shannon was originally going to show our young Borzoi male in the Juniors ring, but due to breed ring conflicts, she had to substitute dogs.  Her first time showing the Frenchie was Saturday, and she placed 2nd place out of 16 juniors, following up the next day with a FIRST Place!!

Shannon currently has juniors defeat points in Newfoundlands, Borzoi, Bouvier Des Flandres and now French Bulldogs.

Shannon received an open junior win in Fargo, ND on May 30, 2004.  I don't think anyone has any idea of what Shannon went through before going in to the juniors ring that day.  Fargo was raining buckets and the ring the newfs were in was outside and full of mud.  Needless to say,  both Shannon and her juniors dog were both drenched and covered with mud.  Instead of going in to the juniors ring with a dirty dog or giving up and calling it quits for the day, Shannon decided to go outside to the hose and wash Jewel (this is only Jewel's second show, so she is still figuring out what's going on) get her completely dried, combed out and presentable (which is quite a feat for a newfie).  She then cleaned herself up, changed clothes and shoes, composed herself, put a smile on her face, and just barely made it to the juniors ring in time.  She accomplished all of this in 90 minutes!!  I think this win, because of all of her hard work to get her dog presentable, meant alot to her.  Her determination that day made me so proud of her, and I'm so glad to be able to count on her when things get hectic!!

Shannon started her AKC Junior Showmanship career in November of 2002.  She quickly completed the Novice Junior requirements, by winning her division three consecutive days in a row!  She is now in the Open Junior division and holding her own.  She finished last year with 4 Open Junior wins and several placements on limited showing.  So far this year, she's attained three open wins along with a Best Junior and several placements.  Her goal this year is to get the 8 wins necessary to compete at Westminster in 2005.

Shannon has been very fortunate to be able to help train and show some other breeds as well.  The different breeds she shows, really helps with her experience level.  When she grows up, she wants to be a veteranarian full time, and a professional handler on the weekends.
